Concrete Driveways in Winchester, VA
A driveway is the first thing people see and the hardest working slab you own. We build them strong, clean and made to last, by a family owned local crew.
Concrete driveways built to carry the load
Your driveway takes more punishment than any other surface at your home. Vehicles roll over it every day, snow gets shoveled and plowed off it, salt drips from the undercarriage all winter and the summer sun bakes it the rest of the year.
Driveway finishes and details that matter
A driveway does not have to be a plain gray rectangle. Here is what we walk through with you at the estimate, from finish options to the structural details buried under the surface.

Driveway finishes
A clean broom finish is the workhorse: durable, slip resistant in rain and snow, and timeless.

Thickness, base and reinforcement
What is under and inside the slab matters more than what is on top.

Aprons, borders and decorative touches
The apron at the street and the border along the edges are where a driveway goes from standard to sharp.

Walkways and approaches
Most driveway projects touch a walkway, a garage approach or front steps, and doing them together is cheaper and cleaner than piecing them out over the years.

Salt, plowing and winter care
Winchester winters are the hard season for a driveway.

Driveway questions, answered
-
01Is concrete better than asphalt for a driveway?
For most Winchester homes, yes. Concrete costs more up front but lasts significantly longer, needs far less maintenance than asphalt’s regular resealing cycle, stays cooler in summer and opens up decorative options asphalt simply does not have. Asphalt wins mainly on initial price, concrete wins on the long haul.

02How soon can I park on a new concrete driveway?
Plan on staying off it with vehicles for about a week. Concrete keeps gaining strength for weeks after the pour, and those first days matter most. You can usually walk on it within a day or two. We give you exact guidance for your slab and the weather at handoff.
-
03How thick should a concrete driveway be?
Thick enough for what parks on it. A typical residential driveway is poured in the four inch range over a compacted stone base, and we go thicker with added reinforcement where trucks, campers or equipment trailers will sit. The base and joint layout matter just as much as the number itself.
-
04Will road salt ruin my driveway in winter?
Not if the driveway is built and sealed for it. We pour an air entrained mix made for freeze thaw climates and seal the surface so salt and ice melt cannot soak in. Go easy on deicers the first winter, reseal every few years and the surface stays tight.

05What decorative options work on a driveway?
Borders are the favorite: a stamped or contrasting color band framing a broom finished field looks custom without the cost of stamping the whole surface. Exposed aggregate, integral color and matching walkway details are also popular. We bring examples to the estimate so you can see the options side by side.
