Finishes and options

What decorative concrete can look like

Decorative concrete is not one product. It is a set of techniques we combine to fit the project, the light, the architecture and the way the surface will be used. These are the ones Winchester homeowners ask for most.

Stamped and textured finishes

Stamping presses a pattern and a stone like texture into fresh concrete before it sets.

Stains and integral color

Color can go into decorative concrete two ways. Integral color is mixed through the entire batch, so the tone runs the full depth of the slab and cannot wear off.

Microcement and feature walls

Microcement is a thin, hand troweled cementitious finish that turns a plain wall into a smooth, mineral surface with subtle movement in it.

Polished concrete countertops

A cast concrete countertop is formed to your exact kitchen or bath, then ground, polished and sealed by hand.

How we work

From idea to finished surface

1. Site visit and estimate

We walk the space with you, talk patterns, colors and finishes, and leave you a free, no obligation estimate.

2. Prep and base

Outdoor work gets excavation, a compacted stone base and forms set to grade. Interior finishes get careful surface prep and masking.

3. Pour, stamp and finish

We place the concrete, work in color, stamp or trowel the chosen texture and cut in any borders or medallions while the timing is right.

4. Seal and care

Once cured, the surface is sealed to protect the color, then we walk you through the simple upkeep that keeps it looking new.

Client words

What Winchester homeowners say

Good to know

Decorative concrete questions, answered

  • 01What counts as decorative concrete?

Any concrete surface finished beyond a plain gray pour. That includes stamped patterns, stains and integral color, exposed aggregate, polished floors and countertops, microcement wall finishes, and details like contrasting borders and custom medallions. Most projects combine two or three of these techniques.

  • 02Can my existing concrete be resurfaced or stained?

Often, yes. Sound concrete can usually be stained, or resurfaced with a decorative overlay, without tearing anything out. It depends on the condition of the slab underneath, so we look at cracking, spalling and drainage during the free estimate and tell you honestly whether resurfacing or replacement is the better spend.

  • 03Does decorative concrete work indoors as well as outdoors?

Yes. Outdoors we stamp and color patios, walkways, pool decks and driveways. Indoors we install microcement feature walls, decorative floor finishes and cast concrete countertops. The materials differ by application, but the same crew handles both, which is unusual for this area.

  • 04How is color added, and will it fade?

Color goes in as integral pigment mixed through the concrete, as surface applied stain, or both. Integral color cannot wear off because it runs the full depth of the slab. Surface color is protected by sealer, and a reseal every few years keeps it rich. Unsealed, unprotected color is what fades, which is why sealing is part of every job we do.

  • 05How long does a decorative finish last in the Winchester climate?

The concrete itself is built to last for decades. We pour with an air entrained mix over a compacted stone base so it handles Shenandoah Valley freeze thaw cycles, and the decorative surface stays sharp as long as it is resealed on schedule, typically every few years for exterior work. We cover the exact care routine at handoff.
