Almost everyone knows that concrete can be colored, but they may not know just how many different options they have when it comes to choosing a color scheme for stamped concrete. As their contractor, we take it upon ourselves to introduce them to their options and guide them in making their color selection.

The very first thing to consider, however, is that the color of the finished concrete WILL NOT be an exact match for the color you choose from any color chart. It’s important to keep in mind that there are so many factors that affect concrete’s color such as cement, aggregate, and even weather.

Now, to move on to trends and best practices. Stamped concrete colors are often selected to blend with other architectural elements of the home or the natural surroundings of the property. For outdoor areas, you’ll generally want to stick with subtle earth tone shades. Additionally, one might consider choosing colors similar to architectural elements, such as the trim or the roof.

Color is one of the most important decisions to make when considering decorative concrete. If you follow these general guidelines, you are much more likely to be happy with the choice you make.
